Friends of the RSrnYC Trust
While the trustees intend, subject to donors' wishes, to keep bequests to the Trust intact as capital and make grants from interest receipts, subscriptions from the 'Friends' will increase the amount available for grants straight away, and qualify for Gift Aid to both the Trust and the donor. |
| The annual subscription to the 'Friends' is just £20. Currently Gift Aid increases that to £25 within the Trust, and if you are a higher rate tax payer, you can reclaim the higher rate tax yourself. The full amount of the subscription and its associated Gift Aid will be added to the amount available for grants from the interest receipts. |
Please become a Friend of the RSrnYC Trust.
We will email you twice yearly reports on the grants awarded, how recent recipients got on and terms for the next round so that you can keep an eye out for deserving cases. Where possible, we will invite you to any events that we are able to arrange at the Club to hand over the awards themselves. You can also use the form to make a donation to the Trust, even if you don't want to become a 'Friend'. It all helps. |

Bequests
In recent years, the Club has been grateful to receive bequests or donations in memory of past Members. We remember Rex King at every Club Regatta, Nigel Lightfoot when the 'Splashers' take to the water and Frank Heenan when cruising short-handed. |
| It is now possible to make such donations to the Trust with the benefit of Gift Aid, and knowing that such bequests fall outside the scope of Inheritance Tax. It is also still possible to make a bequest to the Club direct but without the Gift Aid and other Tax concessions. |
| A bequest to the Trust can be made to be applied at the Trustees' discretion within the Objectives of the Trust, or with a request that it be applied in a particular way, provided that it falls within the Trust's Objectives. For instance, the Trustees may be requested to apply a bequest for the benefit of young or disabled sailors, or to provide equipment that facilitates sailing in general. The bequest can be added to the Trust's general funds or retained as a named fund within the Trust. |
| If you intend to make a bequest or would like more details on how to do so and how it might be applied, please contact the Trust's Hon. Treasurer, Brian Mead, or one of the other Trustees |

Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I do hope that you will join as a Friend or consider making a bequest. All donations, large and small, will help the Trust to encourage participation in our chosen sport. |
