Worbarrow Bay, and also known as Mupe Bay in Cruising Notes
Read By 237 Visitors

These pictures are of a delightful anchorage off the Dorset coast on the western side of Worbarrow bay , and also known as Mupe Bay .

To enter, line up due south of the centre of Worbarrow Bay, very evident from the marked dip in the chalk cliffs, and head for the centre of the bay ( I would add a waypoint here) then alter to the west to fetch up inside the Mupe Rocks which extend eastward from the south west end of the bay.

Anchor in appropriate depth; range at springs is 2 metres; at neaps 0.8 metres .

The Mupe Rocks give good shelter even from fresh south westerlies and and the anchorage for me much better and less crowded than Lulworth.

The downside is that entry can only be made after Lulworth range has ceased firing for the day and departure made before 0800 approx AM, when range is active (call Portland CG).

The bottom is a gravel/ sand overlay on chalk so best to give the anchor a fair tug.

The massive white cliff backdrop gives a wonderful quality of light for your "sundowner ".
