| We had a good turnout for this event which was encouraging as some of our 'old' regulars are away in sunnier climes! As always the weather was pleasant and the course proved to be interesting, with a very friendly and helpful staff. Apart from myself the standard of golf was good and the results were: |
Ladies: 3rd Lesley-Jane Nicholson 30pts
2nd Helen Rowe 32pts
1st Margaret Dowman 34pts |
Men: 3rd Roy Dowman 34pts
2nd Roger Pritchard 35pts
1st Edward Piggin 38pts |
Nearest Pin: Trevor Houghton – very close
Longest Drive:
Ladies: Helen Rowe - out of sight;
Men: Bill Foulkes – a reasonable distance.
Team Prize: Helen Rowe; Bill Foulkes; Peter Nicholson; David Wilson. (Banditos!) |
| We all then met up back at the Southern for an excellent Supper in the River Room and several non players attended, which was good as they could impart some wisdom to the slightly over confident players! |
| On a serious note we did encounter a gender problem. A nameless male decided he wanted to win the Ladies longest drive, which he did convincingly! However Bill Foulkes has agreed that he will never pull that stunt again. (Did I just mention his name, sorry Bill?). |
| The next Golf Day is on 3rd October (location to be finalised), for which we expect a good turnout as the sun worshipers should have returned. |
Kind regards,
Rod McPherson |
