| Bar & Banqueting Staff |
Context:
The Royal Southern Yacht Club is one of the most senior Yacht Clubs in the Country. Founded in 1837 it has grown from humble beginnings to a major facility both on and off the water. The Southern is a private Members Club with 1600 Members. There is a committee structure made up from elected Members. The Club has twelve ensuite bedrooms which opened in September 2007 after extensive renovation of the 18th century cottages. There is also a large bar, conferencing and banqueting suite, and Members bar and restaurant. |
Key Accountabilities:
Responsible primarily to the Front of House Manager and Club Secretary, and other Heads of Department as necessary. |
Core Responsibilities:
To ensure customers are served in an efficient manner with courtesy and respect
To ensure food and beverages are served in line with current legislation and service standards
To handle initial enquiries and pass to the appropriate person as required
To ensure Bar, Dining areas, Office and Kitchen are kept in clean and tidy
Dustbins are kept emptied and clean.
Deliveries are stored according to correct stock rotation procedure.
To undertake all necessary cleaning to the organisation's standard according to the cleaning rota, or as directed. This includes, but is not exclusive to the following: walls (up to 2m in height) floors, fixtures & fittings, equipment, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, glassware, vacuuming, dishwasher machine etc.
To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene, cleanliness and neatness. To comply with statutory hygiene regulations in the handling and storage of food & beverages.
That you act in the interests of your own safety & the safety of others at all times.
To complete any other reasonable duty as requested by the Manager |
Knowledge / Qualifications
A working knowledge of Licensing, Food Safety and Health and Safety
Hygiene / Health and Safety qualifications are desirable, but not essential |
Experience
Ability to work as part of a team, and lead a team in day to day activities
An excellent approach to customer service, demonstrated in a customer service environment |
Skills / Abilities
An ability to meet deadlines and prioritise work
An ability to deal with a variety of customer issues, including complaints
A willingness to work in a fast moving and changeable environment
A 'can do' attitude |
Terms and Conditions of employment:
Rate of pay: £6.02 per hour
This is a casual position, with a contract based on zero hours. Shifts available will vary greatly and be dependent on levels of trade, functions and seasonality - actual days and times of work will be agreed with your Line Manager on a weekly basis.
Your holiday entitlement is 20 days pro rata per annum, which works out as 1 hour for every 12.07 hours you work.
Up to 12 months Probation period.
Notice period: 1 week both ways during first 6 months of employment thereafter 1 months notice both ways.
