J-Cup 2008 - Regatta Report - It's a Wrap!
Racing continued through Saturday and Sunday for the 75 boats competing at the J-Cup 2008, which was hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble.
Racing took place in five classes, on two race areas, and the event also incorporates the 32 boat fleet of J/109s racing for their UK National Championship.

May Regatta Report & Images - Club Members amongst the Winners
There was a good entry for the first of the season's monthly regattas from both within the club and from visiting yachts.
The weekend was also the Southern Area Championships for the J-80 class ahead of next weekend's J-Cup, which the club is hosting.
Saturday's light and variable breezes made setting courses for the different classes very difficult but both Principle Race Officers, David Arnold for the Keelboats and Tony Lovell for the Sportsboats, managed to complete two races for each class. By the middle of the afternoon conditions were becoming so erratic that to try and run the final race was impossible and everyone was sent home.

Adrian Flanagan Returns - First ever single-handed vertical circumnavigation westwards!
Lone sailor, Adrian Flanagan, is set to arrive in Hamble next Wednesday having completed the first ever single-handed vertical circumnavigation of the globe, westwards via Cape Horn and the Russian Arctic.  
Members of the Royal Southern Yacht Club are looking forward to welcoming Adrian back to the River Hamble, from where he set sail in October 2005 in his 11 metre sloop rigged yacht, Barrabas.
