A very warm welcome to the Royal Southern Yacht Club's 2008 Racing Programme.

Here on the Racing home page you will find links to the latest news, results and files.
We could not host these events without the expertise and support of our volunteer members and staff, both afloat and ashore, so I take this opportunity to thank them all.

I wish you all fair winds and enjoyable sailing in 2008.

Women's Championship gets Harken and Raymarine on board
Support continues to grow from top names for Women’s Keelboat Championship
The organisers of next month’s Women’s Open Keelboat Championship are pleased to announce support from two further race sponsors, Harken and Raymarine.
One of the leading manufacturers of performance racing hardware and accessories, Harken has an enviable reputation for developing innovative solutions sustained by continuous quality and development. Harken will be supporting the event with prizes for race winners, from their sailing and shore side ranges.
Raymarine, a well known supporter of sail racing following the recent Raymarine Warsash Spring Series, will be supporting the event with a range of prizes and updating participants with the latest on marine technology and the benefits it brings.
Raymarine’s UK Marketing Coordinator, Chloe Bartle said, “We’re delighted to be involved as a race partner in the Women’s Open Keelboat Championship 2008, supporting this growing audience in achieving their full potential”.
Jody Slater said “We are really pleased that Harken and Raymarine, as leading suppliers of marine hardware and marine electronics worldwide, recognise the significance and potential of the event, which will be around for years to come, like the equipment so many of us rely on from these companies year after year”.
She went on to say, “With support from these organisations, the event is really shaping up to be a noteworthy occasion which we will be building on over the coming years”.
Leading south coast law firm Coffin Mew and marine footwear and clothing specialists Dubarry are already on board. The WOKC really does now have a great line up of prizes for successful teams.
The event has been growing in strength with the range of interest running from sportsboats and lower rated IRC boats, through to 40ft plus IRC boats. This is reflected with the number of entries increasing daily in the run up to the event with only a month to go. An entry list can be seen at www.wokc.co.uk, along with all the sponsors’ information.
Entrants will be looking forward to testing themselves, with competitive racing provided by the Royal Southern Yacht Club, to win an excellent range of fantastic prizes. One team will gain the opportunity to be the first holders of the UK Women’s Open Keelboat Championship trophy.
For those who prefer to stay ashore, and/or are supporting a team there will be plenty to do, with post racing entertainment and a ticket only evening event. www.wokc.co.uk
