Entries for the Royal Southern's popular Mid-summer regatta were being received up to the late on Friday evening.
Besides the main regatta the weekend's racing including both the Hunter 707 Southern Area Championships and the first of the J-109 Saturday series. |
Saturday's weather did not reflect the fact that it was mid-summer's eve. The sky was overcast and the wind drifted from Southwest to Southerly during the day and it was only during the final set of races that it became reasonably stable.

3 Sad Old Blokes Take Laser SB3 UK National Title in Largs
in Event Reports
|
 |
| The final day of the Laser SB3 National Championship dawned windless and it looked like overnight leaders Jerry Hill and his crew of Joe Llewellyn and Sam Minns on '3 Sad Old Blokes' would be announced National Champions without leaving the dock. However the wind had other ideas and by midday a small breeze had developed in the channel off Largs Sailing Club and the postponement flag came down. |

May Regatta Report & Images - Club Members amongst the Winners
in Event Reports
|
 |
There was a good entry for the first of the season's monthly regattas from both within the club and from visiting yachts.
The weekend was also the Southern Area Championships for the J-80 class ahead of next weekend's J-Cup, which the club is hosting. |
| Saturday's light and variable breezes made setting courses for the different classes very difficult but both Principle Race Officers, David Arnold for the Keelboats and Tony Lovell for the Sportsboats, managed to complete two races for each class. By the middle of the afternoon conditions were becoming so erratic that to try and run the final race was impossible and everyone was sent home. |
