This weekend’s flotilla session was coached by Chris O Neil and Stuart Childerley.
17 boats were split into two groups. The more experienced sailors focused on starting and short course training, whilst the other group developed their tacking and gybing techniques and sailed windward leeward courses.
Our key learning points and observations were :-
· Hiking technique
· Upwind sailing angles and keeping the boat moving
· Upwind course orientation (closest tack to the mark)
· Starting cleanly with good speed |
| The next flotilla activity will be the Optimist Nationals at Weymouth when 24 RSrnYC members will be sailing in one of the UK’s largest sailing championship. |
