Youth Sailing - News, Reports & Files

Welcome Youth Sailing at the RSrnYC - Home of Junior Cadets & Splashers
The programme is aimed at providing fun and adventure on the water for children of all ages and abilities. There is great emphasis on family fun and involvement.
For both the JCs and the Splashers there will be a Youth rally every month from April until September where children can learn to row, sail, try racing tactics or just play around in and on the water. Read Full Overview Article Here

Splash 2008 Report and Images in Youth Sailing Reports
On 18th August 2008,104 Splashers and Junior cadets gathered for an early morning briefing. The wind howled through the windows yet this did not discourage the brave Splashers who got ready for an active and wet day on the water for our annual barbeque at Lands End.

The Under 21 Cup in Youth Sailing Reports
The Under 21 Cup took place on Sunday 17th August. 
Winner of the X-Boat Class was Annabel Vose and Louise Dixon. 
The SB3 Class was won by Ed Dyer, Huw Roberts and Emma Henderson-Williams.

Annabel Vose wins second at Musto Volvo Optimist National in Youth Sailing Reports
A record entry of 447 young sailors competed in the Volvo Musto Optimist Nationals, in Pwhelli, North Wales. The same week out in Beijing many Olympic races were being postponed due to the lack of wind but the young Optimist sailors faced the opposite problem with big sea swells and gusts of up to 35 knots.

OEC on Lake Garda - Annabel Vose is Top GBR Sailor in Youth Sailing Reports
Annabel is currently competing in the Optimist European Championships on Lake Garda. Each country sends their top 3 girls and 4 boys. A total of 237 competitors from 38 countries including sailors from New Zealand, Japan and North America.

Striptease: Season so far in Youth Sailing Reports
The start of this season has gone exactly to plan. We set out to complete the Warsash Spring Series with solid results that would contribute towards a mid fleet position building on last seasons fluctuating results. 
The crew consisted of Harry Dyer as bowman and Huw Roberts and myself alternating between helm and middle-man roles. This was a change in structure as we were missing our bow 'lady', Emma Henderson Williams who completes her Gap year work soon.

About the Junior Cadets in Youth Sailing Committee
The Junior Cadet section of our club is a very active and lively section.
We organise events both on and off the water, predominately during the summer months.
JCs move up from Splashers at the age of 13 or the closest time to their 13th birthday. We run this group from 13 to 18 years of age, when the JCs become Cadet members of the club.
