Entries included sailors from 10 countries including a large team from the USA. Annabel finished 26th out of 250 entries and 1st British Girl.

The event took place over 4 days with 10 races in total. Competition was fierce with many countries sending their worlds qualifying team.

With fleet starts of 90 boats, there were a lot of black flags ! Annabel managed 3 top 10 results.

Success for Splashers at the Volvo Musto Optimist Nationals.

The Volvo Musto Optimist Nationals 2007 saw a victory for the Royal Southern YC, with Benjamin Waha scoring a 2, 1, 2 to win the regatta fleet trophy by 18 points.

The National Championships saw 379 sailors compete from 28th July to 3rd August.
For the first time in many years, Southern members were racing in all 3 fleets (Annabel Vose, Senior fleet; Rebecca Anthony, Junior fleet; Benjamin Waha, Regatta fleet).

The senior fleet was won by Alex Mothersele from Emsworth, who fought off strong competition all week to win gold by 2 points.
The junior fleet was dominated all week by Team USA, with first Brit, Scott Wallis from Hampshire, sailing into fifth position.

The regatta fleet managed to fit in 14 races, to help teach 105 youngsters how to race dinghies. Benjamin Waha from RSnYC won gold with 18 points between him and his nearest rival.
All three sailors will be competing in the End of Season Championship at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy in October. Good luck to them all.
