Important information regarding Youth Week and the 20th Anniversary celebrations.
After much consideration the Youth Committee has decided to move the Youth Week dates forward one day. The problem we have discovered is Friday 28th August 2009 High Water is very late, at 1736hrs, this means the children would be coming off the water too late on the Friday.
As we have such a special weekend on Saturday 22nd August with the 20th Celebratory Anniversary Ball & BBQ, let's make the most of it. What better way to celebrate 20 wonderful years of Splash & JC's, than with everyone on the water on the Sunday when the tide is kinder for our little ones.
Youth Week will now start on Sunday 23rd August and finish with the traditional ball on Thursday 27th August. JC Week will start on Saturday 22nd August and finish on the Thursday as well.
We hope you all appreciate this decision was not taken lightly, as we understand some will have to adjust arrangements. Thank you for your support. More details will be released soon..........
20th Anniversary Ball & Regatta.
The 20th year of Splash Club is a huge milestone considering we are predominantly a yacht club and not a dinghy sailing club. It is amazing that so many young children sail from the southern in Oppies, Lasers and now SB3s. The families have enjoyed friendships through the Youth and the Youth programme continues to thrive.
To mark this milestone we are arranging a Celebration Ball on Saturday 22nd August to which all members aged 13 years and above are invited. Our hope is that many of the original Splashers will attend.
On Sunday 23rd August we will be holding a Celebration Regatta followed by a prize giving and barbeque late afternoon.
We would like to invite members to take part in the regatta in yachts, SB3s, X boats and any other forms of sailing boats - all you need to do is enter. We will provide Junior Cadets and Cadets as crew. You are welcome to invite other members to crew on your boat as well.
There will be no cost to enter. The youth committee will fund the race management fees. Your only cost will be if you decide to eat at the club afterwards. Junior Cadets eating costs will be paid for by their parents.
It would be an amazing way to celebrate what all the youth committees have achieved over the past 20 years and a great way to move the next generation along.
Please be a part of our celebrations. Entry forms will be available nearer the time. If you are able to take part please let Lucy Burn know in the office at your earliest convenience. Please do spread the word amongst your friends. Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Best wishes
