Training for 2K Team Racing

 Sailing Assistant - 023 8045 0318

Question: How do you cram all the different racing scenarios that you might encounter over a season into one day on the water?
Answer: Come 2K Team Racing!

'2K' is defined as two boat team racing in keel boats, with mixed gender crews and no spinnakers.
Team racing provides short, high intensity races with lots of close quarters encounters between boats.

The RSrn is planning a repeat of the successful and popular event we held in spring last year, to be sailed in the Academy's fleet of J80s on 18th November 2017.

We would like to invite members to form mixed gender crews of 4 people to take part. No previous experience of team racing is required. We are looking for at least 8 crews.

A crew of 4 will be paired at random with another crew of 4, to form a 2 boat team for the first round of racing. This is to ensure that the teams are well matched.
Each 2 boat team will race against the other teams in the first round and there will be a second round, with a new set of random pairs.

There will be on-water umpires who provide feedback between and after racing and the winning team will be announced over post-race drinks at the bar.
The ultimate aim of this training event is for a team or teams from the RSrnYC to participate in the 2K European Tour, which took place in 11 different countries during 2016. Two venues in Italy have already been announced for 2018.

There will be a fee of £30 per person (£20 for Academy members, £40 for non-members of the Club).

If you would like to join in the fun, please email Sailing.Assistant@royal-southern.co.uk  to register your interest.
You can either register as a crew of 4 people, or register as an individual and we will put together balanced teams from the pool of individuals.
Please indicate your experience of team racing, either Beginner, Improver or Expert.
