Hamble Classics 2018

Event Information

Building on the success of last year’s regatta the 2018 Hamble Classics again welcomes all styles of classic yachts including the International Metre classes, Classic Racers, Cruisers and Dayboats, Old Gaffers, Spirit of Tradition Yachts and Dayboats, and classic One-Design classes, with racing formatted to suit each type.

This year there are a few tweaks to the established formula. For a One-Design class start just four entries are now required, and two boats of the same type when competing in a handicap class may receive a prize for the first boat. For those choosing to race under IRC a 2018 certificate (non-endorsed) is required. We encourage IRC racing but boats with an IRC certificate can race in the Regatta class if preferred. Regatta handicaps are provided free of charge as are gaffer handicaps courtesy of the Solent OGA. With the success of the Regatta class we might see more than one division this year.

Owners of classic style GRP production yachts are requested to make contact with the sailing office. Those already invited to enter include Contessa 26 and 32, Rustler 31, She 31, Rival 34, Nicholson 32, 35 & 36, Cal 40, S&S Swan 65 and other pre-1971 designed S&S Swans. GRP yachts entered in previous Hamble Classics are welcome again.

Please read the 2018 Notice of Race for full details about yacht eligibility, event format and safety - found through the "Files" link above

We are delighted that Spinlock, Classic Marine, Performance Rigging, Ratsey & Lapthorn and Sandeman Yacht Company are continuing their support, plus the Elephant Boatyard whose fabulous Rum Party will again be on Saturday afternoon. If conditions are suitable the regatta will include a river finish on Saturday, once again under the guidance of the River Hamble Harbour Master.

Please enter the regatta now to help us with the planning - the online entry, NoR etc. may be reached through the "Enter" link at the top of the page.
To arrange berthing or for any other questions please call Rob Morris at the Royal Southern Sailing Office: 02380 450302
