Jan 3, 2021

Congratulations - we made it through 2020!

We have come to the end of 2020 and while it hasn't been easy sailing there have been some great moments throughout this turbulent year.

As we head into the New Year we remain under Tier 4 regulations, so whilst we would love to celebrate the new year with you our doors have once again been closed until further notice. However, we would love to hear what your Royal Southern 2020 reel would look like. Send across your fond stories and photos so we can all celebrate our achievements together in the coming Newsletters.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support at the Club and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as it is safe to do so.

Happy New Year!

Sailing and Haven Updates

  • Bosun Hours & Crane Use - The bosuns are now operating on Winter Hours and will continue to do so throughout Tier 4 restrictions, with the launch service available 1000-1630 daily and crane available for use.
  • Pontoon Health & Safety - Please note; with the cold weather at the moment, some of the pontoons are becoming icy and slippery, so please take care! Considering the movements to Tier 4, also bear in mind that there is likely to be fewer staff and member around the club to assist if you get into difficulty.
  • Staffing - At present, we intend for the sailing office staff to continue working throughout the Januaryclubhouse closure. So we will still be contactable by email if you need us!

Staff Fund Donations

Dear Members,

As we near the end of an unforgettable year and hopefully one that won’t be repeated, we’d like to remind you to please to take a moment to think of our Club employees. Many of our staff have been furloughed for large parts of the year, earning 80% of their normal wages. They have all been very flexible in their roles and worked hard to reopen the Club and facilities where possible and safe to do so.

If you are able to, please take a moment to make a donation to the Staff Fund by one of the following methods:

  1. BACs transfer to Club bank account. Please detail “Staff Fund” as reference.
  2. Please e-mail to have your member account charged with a donation by clicking here.
  3. Or to donate using Paypal, please click on the link at the bottom of this message.

So, as you put your lights on the tree, order your turkey and count how many households you would be if single Uncle John formed a support bubble with you and we were a bit loose around the term 'returning home from university', please think of the Club’s staff and help fund single household Christmas parties with a little donation to the staff fund!

They will all smile a little brighter next time they see you, which we hope will be soon.

Best Wishes,

Commodore and Executive Committee
