The Royal Southern Yacht Club is delighted to announce that the May Regatta will be held on the weekend of the 8th – 9th May. This will be the first regatta for the 2021 Royal Southern YC Summer Series. The four regattas are open to entry for non-members and members alike. The race management team will provide racing for keelboats, sportsboats and one designs. All racing activities will follow RYA Guidelines. The Quarter Deck at the Royal Southern Clubhouse will be used for social activities, adhering to UK Government Coronavirus restrictions.
“A big thank you to the Clubhouse staff and the Race Management team for working hard preparing for a safe and enjoyable regatta for everyone,” commented Chair of the Race Committee, Paul Ward. “The Royal Southern is looking forward to putting on a great event for our members, and a warm welcome awaits all of our visiting sailors.”
Black Group will feature a variety of keelboats racing in IRC Classes, Performance 40, HP30 and Club Class racing under the VPRS handicap system.
White Group will feature one design classes including the pocket-rocket SB20 Class and the XOD Class, which dates back to 1909.
There will be a brand-new format of racing for the J/70 Class. The Royal Southern YC J/70 Sprint Series will feature five short sharp races per day. The Royal Southern owns three J/70s, which are available to all Club members with suitable experience.
