Despite many cases of Covid locally, over 50 ladies came to enjoy the Spring Ladies Lunch in the Club on Thursday 7th April. After the welcome drinks in the Upper Bar, we all enjoyed a delicious lunch and a good catch up with friends. This was followed by a very interesting talk by Katherine Skellon who told us all about her 25 year career in exhibition design. She took us through the history of how museums started exhibiting in previous centuries, and then led us through her own journey from university in the late 1980s, getting her first job with a design company in the 1990s and the many fascinating projects she was involved in both in UK and abroad, before eventually forming her own design company in 2014. The pictures of her various exhibition projects were familiar to many of us such as the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and the Crown Jewels, and included other high profile exhibitions such as the WW2 Bunker & Exhibition Centre at Hillingdon, “Fire Fire” (the 350th Anniversary of the Great Fire of London), and a recent exhibition on the history of Cancer. There were some great prizes won when the raffle was drawn, and £354 was raised for this year's Ladies Committee charities - the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and the Rona Sailing Project. The verdict was a very enjoyable afternoon for all.
