 Academy Frostbite Day 1 Report
Academy Frostbite Day 1 Report

The Royal Southern Academy's 2017 programme got off to a flying start on Saturday 28th January.
With a steady breeze of 8 - 12 knots and glorious sunshine belying the winter weather of the previous week; day 1 of the frostbite series represented some top-quality winter sportsboat racing.
The race committee made best use of the fantastic early season conditions, squeezing in 5 good races in the usual short course windward - leeward format of Academy racing.

Brits Take First Place And First Rookie In Figaro Prologue
For the first time in race history, an Englishman - Alan Roberts (longstanding RSrnYC Academy Member) - has won the Prologue of La Solitaire Bompard Le Figaro.
It is the third Solitaire for the 26-year-old sailor, and this victory - even if it doesn't count for the overall ranking - reinforces his status as one of the race favourites.
